What is the difference between Reiki and sound healing?

Reiki works through gentle energy channeling via the hands, while sound healing uses vibrations and frequencies from instruments. They can be done separately or combined for a powerful, deeply relaxing experience.

What can I expect during a Reiki/Sound session?

When you arrive, we’ll take a few minutes to talk about your needs, intentions, or anything going on physically or emotionally if you wish. You’ll lie down (fully clothed) or sit on a table or chair (yoga mat for sound baths). For Reiki, my hands will be placed lightly on or just above your body. For sound healing, you’ll be surrounded by soothing sounds and vibrations. Most people feel deeply relaxed, sometimes even fall asleep and leave feeling lighter and more centered. Will I feel anything during a session?

Everyone’s experience is unique. Some people feel warmth, tingling, or gentle waves of energy. Others feel peaceful and calm. Some may release emotions or memories. And sometimes you might not “feel” much during the session but notice changes in mood, energy, or clarity afterward.

How should I prepare for a session?

Wear comfortable clothing, drink some water beforehand, and try to arrive a few minutes early to settle in. You don’t need to do anything special, just come with an open mind and I’ll lead you through the rest.

Is it safe?

Yes. Reiki and sound healing are gentle, non-invasive practices that work alongside conventional medicine, not as a replacement. They’re generally safe for all ages and conditions, but if you have specific medical concerns, it’s always best to consult your healthcare provider.

How many sessions will I need?

It really depends on your goals and what you’re working through. Some people come for a single session to relax and recharge, while others book a series of sessions to support ongoing healing, manage stress, or work through deeper emotional patterns. You’ll likely notice benefits from your first visit, and we can talk together about what frequency feels right for you, whether that’s weekly, monthly, or simply as needed.

Do I need to believe in energy healing for it to work?

No. Reiki and sound healing don’t rely on belief, they work regardless. Many people come in curious and unsure, and still experience benefits like relaxation, improved mood, and better sleep.

How does it help?

Reiki and sound healing help by bringing your body and mind into a more balanced, relaxed state. When we’re relaxed, our nervous system can shift out of “fight or flight” mode and into “rest and restore” mode. This can support your natural healing processes, release tension, and help you feel calmer, clearer, and more centered.

Are there any side effects?

Most people feel relaxed, peaceful, and lighter afterward. Occasionally, you might notice temporary changes, like feeling tired, emotional, or more aware of physical sensations as your body processes the session. These usually pass quickly and can be part of your natural healing response.

Can it reduce depression?

Reiki and sound healing aren’t treatments for depression, but they can be supportive alongside other care. Many people find the deep relaxation and emotional release helpful for improving mood, reducing feelings of heaviness, and creating more space for positive shifts. If you’re experiencing depression, it’s important to also work with a qualified mental health professional.

Can it help with anxiety?

Yes - many clients come to reduce anxiety. The calming effect of Reiki and sound healing can help slow a racing mind, release physical tension, and promote a feeling of safety and ease. These practices aim to calm the nervous system which in turn can reduce anxiety. For ongoing or severe anxiety, it works best as part of a larger care plan with your healthcare provider.

I'm stressed. Will it help?

Absolutely. Stress is one of the main reasons people seek these sessions. The combination of gentle energy work and soothing sound can help quiet your mind, relax your body, and give you a much-needed reset so you can return to daily life feeling more grounded and clear. This is just one of the reasons why I offer breathwork, body scans, visualisation and guided meditation throughout my sessions - to redirect the mind and offer a pause from the chaos of daily life.
